Toronto - Calling her party's campaign a "comedy of errors," an outspoken Liberal MP from Ontario says Paul Martin should have waited until fall to call an election. Mississauga MP Carolyn Parrish says she's seen a lot of anger at the Liberals during door-to-door campaigning. Constituents are angry at the party for the sponsorship scandal and the provincial budget in Ontario, in which Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty backtracked on a promise not to raise taxes. She says she's worried the Liberals are going to lose the election, and the Conservatives are going to win a minority government. St. John's, Nfld. - The RCMP confirmed Wednesday that two fibre optic cables were deliberately damaged, cutting off phone, internet and cable service overnight to 200,000 people in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Two cables near Goshen, N.S., were cut, the RCMP said. Vancouver - Legalizing marijuana could add $2 billion to government coffers and deprive criminals of pots of easy money, says a new study released on Wednesday by the Fraser Institute. If the government were to regulate and tax the marijuana production industry, the report suggests little would change, except where the money goes. Estimates are that the B.C. marijuana industry is worth $7 billion. Those caught are rarely charged. Those convicted rarely go to jail. Police believe legalizing marijuana would be a big mistake.
