Submitted by Fr. Denis Bourbonnais, O.M.I, St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church "If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you." (Romans 8:10-11) This weekend, Christians celebrate the feast of Pentecost, the sending of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, the creation of the Church. Let us praise the Lord. What the Holy Spirit does is give us new life in God. It is Jesus, the Son of God, who sends us the Holy Spirit. The Spirit enlightens us; helps us to understand; convinces us to confess our sins, and be given new life in Christ. The Holy Spirit also brings us together to sing one song of praise, in unison, to God our Father. Just as the waters of Baptism make us one body in Christ, so the Holy Spirit gives us one voice to sing the praise of God. That voice is the good work of charity and forgiveness of our faults. "The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world. Let us rejoice and be glad in it."5/28/2004
