On this date one year ago I started working for The Reminder, after arriving in Flin Flon on August 9. As I look back, a year has gone by fast. It's been a good year. I've only upset a small list of people Ð to my knowledge. I'm going to share with you some of my memorable moments. When it comes to people, one of the first who come to mind is Larry Feszycyn. I will never forget the first time we crossed paths in the Whitney Forum. You approached me and gave me a strong hand shake and said you appreciated the work I was doing. That meant a lot to me because in this industry, us reporters are only used to people telling us how we screwed up. I've been fortunate here to experience a few positive comments. Larry, I've been working out and prepping myself for those arm squeezes you give in the Bombers dressing room following a victory. If the season goes how I think it will, I will need strong ones. Words honestly can't describe the feeling when I experienced my first game in the Whitney Forum. Truly unbelievable, especially home opener. The only minus was hearing Clayton Geiger and then-coach Ryan Hoffman being booed. I will never forget during an exhibition game against La Ronge when the team didn't have a good start and someone yelled out to Hoffman to start packing the Uhaul. Unbelievable. I don't think the parents with the midget AA Bombers will ever forget the trip to Regina on which I accompanied them. I know I won't. The Survivor Series against Melfort. That was an incredible series and comeback the Bombers pulled off. Driving back with Steve Spring and Daryl Bowman, watching the trail of headlights leaving was something. It was impressive that approximately 400 fans made the trip to support the Bombers. They made more noise than the Mustang fans did in their own barn. I want to thank the staff here for picking on me as much as they have. Hopefully I will move up the ladder in this field so I can afford to pay my shrink for the mental damage that's been caused. As I improve my golf game, maybe, just maybe the great shot I made during the Bombers golf tournament from about 60 feet away won't seem like a fluke. Mostly, I'm happy to have survived this year. I want to say thank you to the people who have enjoyed reading the sports so far. It tells me I'm doing something right. On the Sidelines will return on Sept. 8.
