Rotary Wheel In 1985, the 50th anniversary of the Flin Flon club, a building was constructed in the tourist park, in conjunction with the City of Flin Flon. The contribution by the Rotary Club was $25,000 initially with an additional $15,000 donated to establish washrooms in the facility. The Wheel is used extensively in the summer and all the other seasons of the year, weather permitting. The first major project of the Flin Flon Rotary Club was the construction of Rotary Park. Charter member Phil Foster, an RAF squadron leader killed in action over Norway in 1942, left funds from his estate for the club to use for community service. Using the Foster endowment as a base, the local club began construction of the park and wading pool. The park was opened in 1950 and has been financially maintained by the club ever since. The changehouse and chlorination facility were recently rebuilt. This park will remain a popular and well taken care of facility for years to come. A shade structure and a spray fixture have been added. The largest Rotary project opened in 1960 and still operated by the club is the Rotary Court Seniors Housing Project, which provides affordable accommodation for seniors. There are four units, each with four self-contained apartments. Each apartment has five major appliances and a small garden area for personal use. The Rotary Court was Flin Flon's first seniors' housing project, and it remains a symbol of the Rotary commitment to serve its local community. A common room, "The Rotary Hub", has been recently added.
