Geneva - Red Cross officials have accused the United States of holding terrorist suspects in secret locations around the world. The International Committee of the Red Cross has petitioned the American government to notify it of all detainees. "So far, we haven't had a satisfactory reply," said Antonella Notari, spokesperson for the Red Cross. The Red Cross has had access to prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, as well as Afghanistan and Iraq, but "there are people that are detained outside of these places for which we haven't received notification or access," said Notari. Baghdad - Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein defiantly rejected the charges facing him when he appeared in a Baghdad courtroom on Thursday. Saddam appeared before an Iraqi judge in an arraignment that lasted about 30 minutes. "This is all theatre. The real criminal is [U.S. President George W.] Bush," Saddam told the court, according to a report from the official media pool. The U.S. alleges Saddam's regime killed more than 300,000 Iraqis. London - If a British parliamentary committee gets its way, the country will no longer recognize outstanding achievement by making its brightest citizens knights and dames. A report released on Tuesday by the public administration select committee calls the noble titles "an embarrassment rather than a cause for celebration."
