Jakarta, Indonesia - Indonesian searchers have found another 1,800 bodies in the rubble left by the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunami, raising the country's death toll to 128,715, the government said Monday. Indonesia was the worst hit of the 11 countries affected by the deadly waves, which killed between 176,665 and 184,378 people. Between 49,622 and 50,533 people in total remain unaccounted for around the Indian Ocean. New Delhi - India and Pakistan issued a joint statement Monday saying that the peace process between the two nuclear-armed nations is "irreversible." Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf has been visiting India for the past three days, hoping to settle lingering differences between the two countries, which have fought three wars since 1947. The leaders also pledged to improve transportation between the countries and work to reduce the number of soldiers on a contested glacier high in the Himalayas. Tokyo - Japanese papers condemned China on Monday for refusing to apologize for weeks of violent anti-Japanese protests, warning that Beijing's global stature could slide unless it curbs the violence. Chinese protesters are demanding that Japan be denied a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. They cite atrocities committed by Japanese troops against the Chinese during the Second World War.
