Berlin - Libya will pay about $46 million in compensation to relatives of people killed and injured in 1986 when its secret service bombed a Berlin nightclub popular with American soldiers. The money will go to the families of a Turkish woman who died in the attack and 229 Germans who were injured. However, the families of two American servicemen killed in the same attack will not receive any payment as a result of the deal, which the Libyan ambassador to Germany announced on Tuesday. The bomb tore through La Belle disco on April 5, 1986. The U.S. had soldiers stationed in West Berlin, when the Berlin Wall still divided the German city. Brussels - A Belgian airliner with 58 passengers on board made an emergency landing after a cat made its way into the cockpit and scratched the co-pilot. The airliner was on its way from Brussels to Vienna when the animal escaped from its authorized flight transport bag and started wandering around the cabin. Baghdad - U.S. forces drove through the streets of Najaf on Tuesday, calling for militants to disarm the day after the radical Shia cleric leading the uprising vowed to fight to the death. "We ask residents to co-operate with the Iraqi army and police," said a voice in Arabic through a loudspeaker. "There will be no truce or negotiations with terrorists."
