Sacramento, Calif. - Arnold Schwarzenegger was sworn in Monday as the 38th governor of California, completing a meteoric rise from bodybuilder and action hero to leader of the most populated U.S. state in a historic recall election. The 56-year-old Austrian immigrant took the oath of office before an audience of 7,500 dignitaries and supporters on the steps of the state capitol, as millions more around the world watched the event live on television. "I am humbled, I am honoured and I am moved beyond words to be your governor," Schwarzenegger said after being sworn in. Washington - President George W. Bush said Monday the United States will not pull out of Iraq when a provisional government is established by July 1. Bush made the promise in a meeting with Iraqi women who told the president of the hardships they had suffered under Saddam Hussein. "I assured these five women that America wasn't leaving," Bush said in the Oval Office. Under a plan reached between the United States and the Iraqi Governing Council, the country's political transition will be sped up with the formation of an interim government by midyear. Washington - The Central Intelligence Agency said Monday that the latest audio message purportedly from deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein cannot be authenticated because the quality of the recording is too poor.
