Paris - The car crash that killed Diana was a horrific scene of screeching brakes, flying car parts, and a bomb-like explosion, according to a witness account published Thursday. The witness, identified as Mohamed Medjahdi, told Britain's Daily Mail tabloid that he was driving in front of the Mercedes carrying Diana before the Aug. 31, 1997, crash in a tunnel under Paris' Pont de l'Alma bridge. Medjahdi said Diana's car was going so fast he had to speed up to avoid being hit. Medjahdi said he heard a huge explosion and saw the limousine bounce from a concrete pillar to the tunnel wall, according to the Daily Mail. Washington - President George W. Bush unveiled an election-year vision of space exploration Wednesday, to develop new spacecraft to carry Americans back to the moon by 2015 and build a long-term base there for missions to Mars and beyond. "Establishing an extended human presence on the moon could vastly reduce the cost of further space exploration," Bush said at NASA headquarters. Pasadena - The Spirit rover successfully rolled onto Mars early Thursday, placing its six wheels on solid Martian ground for the first time since the robot bounced down on the red planet nearly two weeks ago. "Mars now is our sandbox, and we are ready to play and learn," said JPL director Charles Elachi.
