Fort Hood, Texas - U.S. President George W. Bush said he would have "moved mountains" to prevent terrorist attacks on Washington and New York Ð if he had known they were imminent. But an intelligence memo on threats from Osama bin Laden dated Aug. 6, 2001, a month before al-Qaeda attackers killed more than 3,000 Americans, did not point to a specific potential attack, Bush said Sunday. The memo was released Saturday. The formerly confidential memo said the Federal Bureau of Investigation was running 70 investigations into bin Laden-related matters in the U.S. at the time. Vatican City - Pope John Paul II used his traditional Easter prayer to ask that humanity "find the strength to face the inhuman and unfortunately growing phenomenon of terrorism." The Pope delivered the message on the flower-decked steps of St. Peter's Square before tens of thousands of people. He prayed for peace and urged the faithful to "find the courage to confront the many evils facing the world today." Washington - U.S. President George W. Bush and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Monday that an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza Strip would be a helpful step toward securing peace in the Middle East. The Gaza pullout would include 21 settlements populated by about 7,500 Jewish settlers.
