Islamabad Pakistan - Pakistan launched a medium-range missile capable of hitting many targets inside arch rival India early Tuesday, its third - and last - in a series of planned tests which began earlier this month, government officials and Pakistan's army said. Longer-range missiles, however, will be tested in the future, the army said in a statement. The missile has a range of 700 kilometres. A government official at Pakistan's main nuclear facility said experts are now working to upgrade longer-range missiles. La Paz, Bolivia - Supplies of food, gasoline and other essentials ran short Tuesday as protesters demanding the president's resignation blocked roads and virtually paralysed the capital of La Paz and the nearby city of El Alto. Clashes between demonstrators and soldiers left at least 16 dead Monday, bringing the death toll from two weeks of protests to as high as 60, according to human rights groups and local media. Kandahar, Afghanistan - Hundreds of Afghan troops backed by U.S. soldiers and helicopters attacked a suspected Taliban hideout, killing at least four rebels and capturing eight others, Afghan and U.S. officials said Tuesday. A military spokesman at U.S. headquarters in Bagram, just north of the Afghan capital, Kabul, confirmed U.S. troops were involved in the raid.
