Paris - Arsonists torched a Jewish community centre in eastern Paris Sunday, the latest target in a recent wave of anti-Semitic incidents in France. Anti-Jewish graffiti and swastikas were scrawled in red marker inside the gutted building. One message read "Jews get out." No one was injured in the blaze. The centre, a meeting place for the elderly and disadvantaged, is located on the ground floor of a six-storey building. Anti-Semitic attacks in France have been on the rise since 2000 as tensions have worsened between Israel and the Palestinians. France has the largest Muslim and Jewish communities in Europe. Jerusalem - Israel is planning to build hundreds of new homes for settlers in the Palestinian West Bank, following an apparent shift in U.S. policy on the controversial Jewish settlements, according to news reports. Israel said on Monday it plans before the end of the year to build about 530 new homes in the settlements of Har Gilo, Har Adar, Adam and Immanuel on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Dhaka, Bangladesh - A Bangladeshi mob torched a passenger train and protesters battled police on Sunday, a day after a grenade attack on a political rally killed 19 people and injured hundreds. They forced about 600 passengers to flee, then doused the train with gasoline and set it on fire. About 20 people were injured. Nearly 25,000 people marched through the streets in Dhaka.
