Kabul - American military officials are investigating allegations that an Afghan police officer was stripped naked and beaten by U.S. soldiers, according to the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. The alleged abuse occurred at a U.S. base in Gardez, about 100 kilometres south of Kabul, the Embassy said in a statement issued Wednesday. Washington - The G-8 nations have agreed to share information on lost and stolen passports. The aim is to work together to secure borders, ports and air traffic to thwart terrorism. The group says the theft of unissued, blank passports is a serious threat. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Defence Tom Ridge said the aim is to enhance security throughout the world. Glasgow - The death toll from an explosion at a plastics factory in Scotland rose to seven, while rescue workers held out hope that they would find more survivors. Fire officials told reporters Wednesday that they believe people remain trapped inside the Stockline Plastics factory. Knocking sounds were coming from the rubble early Wednesday.
