Beslan, Russia - Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in Moscow's Red Square Tuesday in a show of unity against terrorism. Outside St. Basil's Cathedral, demonstrators brandished religious insignia, Russian flags and banners reading "Russia against terror," and "We won't give Russia to terrorists." The crowd observed a moment of silence in memory of victims as Russia marked its second day of mourning in the wake of the Beslan school siege that left 335 dead. Later reports said large amounts of weapons and explosives had been hidden in the gym days or weeks in advance, perhaps during renovations to the floor. Miami - Tropical storm Frances battered the Florida Panhandle on Monday, hitting the state for the second time as residents further south began to return home. Heavy rains and 105 km/h winds lashed the Panhandle. More than three million people remained without power Monday night, down from six million during the weekend, when Frances whipped a large swatch of Florida for up to 30 hours. Moscow - Russian officials have arrested two people on suspicion of involvement in the crashes of two Russian planes two weeks ago. One of the men is thought to have illegally sold plane tickets to two Chechen women suspected of carrying out the Aug. 24 bombings that killed 89 people, according to Russia's Interfax news agency.
