Nowhere was that more evident than at Ruth Betts School on Saturday afternoon, as the school hosted the 2003 Regional Science Fair. "They sure were good projects," said Bill Pauley, chairman of the Regional Science Fair Committee. "I was really very impressed by the sophistication and the scientific method used in the entries." The fair brought together the winning projects from schools in Flin Flon, Cranberry Portage, The Pas and Thompson. Lynn Lake had hoped to have representation, but a flu epidemic in the community threw a wrench in those plans. All of the judging was conducted Saturday by 22 judges from the local area, including Pauley, professionals with science backgrounds and eight of the top science students from Hapnot Collegiate. "Having the Hapnot students involved was just great," commented Pauley. "They really enjoyed it and they did a super job. The kids in the science fair seemed to be able to relate well to the high school students." See 'Local' P.# Con't from P.# Flin Flon and Cranberry Portage students fared well at the fair, though the three projects selected to go on to the National Science Fair in Calgary were from Riverside School in Thompson.
