Creighton Curling History - Part II The first general meeting for the ladies to form a curling club in Creighton was held on April 5, 1954. The executive consisted of Florence Curtis as president; Dorothy Bartley as vice-president; Estelle Karchie as the secretary treasurer; with the executive made up of Helen Pelletier, Estelle Karchie, Madeline Rawles, Terry Jaszan and Grace Salamondra. In November 1954-55, a new executive as formed with Dorothy Bartley taking the presidents position and Doreen Church was secretary. There were 24 members. By 1955-56, there were 35 members and the Florence Curtis team were the club champions that year. In 1956-57 there were 40 members and the club champions were the Mary Vandergucht team of Grace Salamondra, Marg Clark and Gertie Thompson. In 1957-58 there were 53 members with Mary Vandergucht's team of Grace, Marg and Gertie once again being the club championships. In 1959-60 there were 41 members with Mary Vandergucht's team once again being club champions. In 1960-61 the club had 26 members with Anne Skoronski's team of Marg Clark, Leah Lawrence and Susan Davies being the club champions. In 1961-62 with the club having 36 members, Mary Vandergucht's team of carol Mohr, Edna Neufeld and Terry Lofstrom were club champions. The first mention of the Diamond D committee was in 1961-62 with Virginia Blake, Helen Pelletier and Anna McDonald on the committee. In 1962-63 there were 52 members with the club champion was once again Mary Vandergucht's team of Carol Mohr, Edna Neufeld and Carrie Herriot. In 1963-64 the Royal Cup was first mentioned with the winner being Edna Garinger, Tillie Smith and Fern Kozak. In 1964-65, there is no mention of the number of members or club champions. Edna Garinger was president with Fern Kozak as vice-president, Edna Neufeld as treasurer, and an executive consisting of Anna Mack, Carol Mohr, Peggy Watson, Tillie Smith, Anne Hanes and Helen Schwab.
