The negativity some of the people in this community have towards the Flin Flon Bombers is showing its true colours as attendance has been small despite numbers such as 1,190 and 1,114 announced during the game. It makes me laugh because the league gloats that 10,000 fans showed up for the first week of action. The teams in the league get full blame for bloated figures since it's they that send it to the league. While attendance figures might be accurate for some teams, it isn't for the Bombers. The figures are adding walk in totals to the season ticket holders total, which hasn't moved from 937 or else the team would have stated such on their website. I think people are staying away from games because of the start the team is going through, which began with their winless exhibition season, and others who don't have season tickets might find the walk in price steep. The numbers lowered by 76 from the Melfort blowout to the La Ronge Ice Wolves robbery. With any luck and after how the team performed on Tuesday, there just might be close to 1,000 fans for the Kindersley Klippers, who are in town with former Bomber bench boss Larry Wintoneak. One player fans can look forward to watching is Ryne McKinnon, who is again under the watchful eye of Wintoneak. I shouldn't be surprised about the negativity some people here choose to clutch on to because last season it didn't matter if the team did something right, people would find something negative to talk about. Like some stupid mistake that happened or that the team wasn't hitting enough. Come to think of it, that mentality reminds me of my folks. I love them, but sometimes nothing seems to satisfy them. I'd get into that but I don't want to get off topic. Perhaps one of these columns I will find a creative way to write an entire piece on them. I've talked to some people about negativity to get an understanding and I still don't get it. Perhaps I'm a few bricks short of a load. I just have one question. Why are certain members in this community like that? I must say this though, when it comes to fans blowing me away with their negativity, their response to the Melfort meltdown ranks second to Clayton Geiger being booed. There's coincidence with the two incidents Ð they both took place on home openers. I can understand the frustration that fans are going through (I'm a Canucks fan Ð enough said) with all the hype of this team, especially in the media, but Doug Stokes has brought in several good players and this might be the toughest camp he's ever had to evaluate for talent. There's a saying that good things come to those who are patient. The team might be having the same start as last year, but there's a difference in play. While people have the right to complain at any time, since you paid for the ticket, I suggest saving it if the team goes winless in their first 10 games. Here's a thought, though. You can be as negative as you want, but do you really gain anything from it? For now, I suggest you check your negativity at the door.
