The centre will be staying in the same area, but at the end of the month it will be across the street at 9 Timber Lane. April 8 Ð Flin Flon City Council will ask the province to look at ways in which logging trucks, semi trucks, and similarly large vehicles may be rerouted around Main Street. April 14 Ð Negotiations have fallen apart between A&W and the developers of the Flintoba Shopping Centre, but the popular restaurant chain remains keen on opening a new Flin Flon restaurant. "If we can find the right economics, we're confident we can have a successful business in Flin Flon." April 15 Ð The Flin Flon School Board will call on the province to develop outdoor recreational facilities at Queen's Park near Hapnot Collegiate. "For high schools, when you go around the province and look at the facilities they've got outside their schools, soccer fields, and tracks, we are so far behind," said Superintendent of Schools Blaine Veitch. "It's a shame." April 16 Ð An elderly resident wants the City of Flin Flon to help entice a developer to build seniors housing in the uptown area. Vicki Dolinsky, who lives on Main Street with her husband Nestor, says many seniors would like to move uptown because the proximity to community services would help them lead more independent lives. "Everything that we need is downtown," she said. April 19 Ð Flin Flon took centre stage in the growing hobby of quilting on the weekend. Over 400 quilt enthusiasts from as far away as Humboldt and Thompson attended the North Star Quilt Guild's 2004 show at the Community Hall. April 21 Ð Volunteers hope to revitalize another five hectares of barren land this summer through the Flin Flon-Creighton Green Project. The project sees volunteers spread crushed limestone on barren areas to promote the growth of vegetation. "The progress last year was the best ever," said an enthusiastic Dave Price, project co-ordinator. "You can see from the before and after pictures that there has been some major changes." April 29 Ð A random check stop by Creighton RCMP Tuesday afternoon on South Hudson Street led to one of the biggest drug busts in recent years.
