Flin Flon’s Mackenzie Grove is heading home from the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta. with a set of above-average finishes.

In each of her cross-country skiing events, Grove was the highest-ranked finisher from Team Saskatchewan.

Grove started the event with a 16th-place finish in the female free sprint event, racing in a crowded field of 55 skiers. She followed that up with the 7.5 kilometre interval start female free event, where she finished 22nd.

Grove also took part in the mixed relay, where Team Saskatchewan 1, consisting of Grove and fellow skiers Matt Gill, Janice Grundahl and Nathan Weiman, finished 12th.

The last event Grove took part in, the 10 km mass start classic female event, ended with her in 26th place.

A long-time member of the Flin Flon Ski Club, Grove now attends the University of Alberta Augustana and competes in college skiing events with the school’s club team. It was Grove’s first Canada Games on the trails, having missed a chance to qualify for the event in 2015 due to a leg injury.
