Another edition of the Roller Goodwin Hockey Tournament will soon be underway.

This year’s event, set for August 3 to 5 at the Whitney Forum, is the 43rd annual edition of the tournament, which rotates every August long weekend between Flin Flon and locations like Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Banff and others.

In total, 13 teams are listed on the tournament schedule, including several teams consisting of members and friends of long-time Flin Flon families, including the Broughs, Crones, Donaghys, Quinns and Rideouts. Other teams feature more unique names, like the Dump Bears or the Doughboys. Family teams and competitive teams are split into two divisions.

The tournament is named after “Roller” Goodwin, a Flin Flon miner and character, known for his love and passion for motorcycling. Goodwin passed away in the ‘90s

In past years, the tournament has also featured a special division for players over the age of 50.

Multiple people with connections to the community, including former Flin Flon Bombers, return to Flin Flon for the competition.

The tournament starts on August 3 at 4 pm, with a competitive division game at the Forum between the Pistols V 2.0 and Kro’s Pros.
