The last major tournament of Hapnot’s volleyball season wrapped up in MacGregor last weekend, with the Kweens coming home after a strong showing in pool play.

In the round-robin round, Hapnot earned wins against hosts MacGregor and the Springs Christian Eagles, along with a close three-set defeat against Green Valley.

Entering the playoff round, the Kweens were 2-2, in third place in their pool. The Kweens drew the Major Pratt Trojans from Russell in the opening round of the tournament bracket. In the end, the Trojans defeated Hapnot 25-18. 25-11, sending the Kweens home early.

Other northern teams at provincials didn’t fare much better.

The Frontier Collegiate Raiders, winners of the senior varsity boys’ Zone 11 title, made it to their own provincials at École Regional Notre Dame in Notre-Dame-des-Lourdes last weekend. The Raiders did not win a set in pool play, finishing 0-4 and not advancing to the tournament bracket.

Snow Lake’s Joseph H. Kerr Tigers senior girls’ squad also went winless through round robin play at the provincial A tournament at Prairie Mountain, while the Duke of Marlborough Storm of Churchill grabbed a single win at boys’ A provincials in Notre-Dame-des-Lourdes, before being eliminated by eventual champions Hamiota.
