The Flin Flon midget AA Bombers have had some recent ups and downs, seeing highs and lows at home and on the road.

During a recent road trip to Norway House and Cross Lake, the Bombers earned two big wins. First, the Flin Flon team made quick work of the Norway House North Stars on Nov. 24, winning 9-1. Eight different players scored for the Bombers in the win, led by Blake Alexander’s three points and Tucker Fidler’s two goals.

The next day, the midget crew headed to the Cross Lake Sports Complex to play the first-place Islanders. That game was another high-scoring matchup, ending with an 8-5 victory for Flin Flon. The game got chippy, with the two teams combining for 116 minutes in penalties. Once again, the Bombers scored by committee, with seven players scoring on Cross Lake netminder Colby Moore.

However, the Bombers lost both games on a Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 road swing to Thompson, dropping 5-2 and 2-1 decisions on enemy ice. Goalies Fred Martin and Landon Hofer each performed well in the Dec. 1 game, with Martin making 28 saves for the Bombers and Hofer stopping 21 shots.

On Dec. 8 and 9, the Bombers took down the Islanders twice in two days at the Whitney Forum, winning 8-4 and 8-3. Six different scorers lit the lamp on Dec. 8, with both Ron Campbell and Nathan Stevens scoring twice.  Blake Alexander followed that up with a hattrick on Dec. 9. The Bombers shelled Cross Lake's goalies, firing 114 shots at them between the two games.

With the holiday break around the corner, the Bombers have settled into third place in the four team league. Thompson leads the way with 22 points and a 11-1 record so far. Only Flin Flon has managed to beat the King Miners so far this season, earning a 6-4 win at the Whitney Forum on Nov. 18. Cross Lake sits second with 18 points and a 9-5 record, while Flin Flon has 15 points through 14 games and is 7-6-1. Norway House has gone winless through their first 14 games.
