The newest signees for the Flin Flon Bombers include some familiar faces.

Forward Matt Flodell officially inked a deal with the team on June 13. Flodell played five regular games with the Bombers as an affiliated player last season, scoring a goal and an assist. Flodell also suited up for three playoff games with the squad.

The 5’10”, 155-pound forward spent most of last season with the midget AAA Battlefords Stars, scoring 25 points in 43 games. He was selected by the Bombers in the fifth round of the 2015 SJHL Bantam Draft.

Meanwhile, the prospect pipeline running between the Winnipeg Thrashers midget AAA club and the Flin Flon Bombers has pumped out yet another player.

On June 12, the Bombers signed Reid Robertson, a 17-year-old forward who played with the team for the past three seasons. Robertson was a point-per-game player for the Thrashers in both of the past two seasons, with 42 points in 42 games in 2016-17 and 48 points in 48 games in 2017-18.

Robertson is 6’2” and 176 pounds and was selected by the Kelowna Rockets in the eighth round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

Robertson’s signing means the Bombers now have the rights for a whopping seven former Thrashers players. Forwards Dylan Burton, Brandson Hein, Nate Hooper and Dawson McKenzie and defenseman Mason Martin, all Thrashers alumni, played with the Bombers last season and are eligible to return. One of Robertson’s Thrashers teammates last year, Billy Klymchuk, signed with the Bombers earlier this month.

Another prospect pipeline paid off for the team on June 15, when the Bombers signed forward Alec Cokley. Cokley played last season for the Rocky Mountain Roughriders under-18 team in Colorado, the same club that three players from last year’s Bombers roster – forwards Ethan Daniels and Caleb Moretz and defender Calvon Boots – played for before coming to Canada. The New Castle, Colo. native scored 17 points in 17 games last year, including 13 assists. He will turn 18 on June 21.

Brendan Phelps, an assistant coach with the Roughriders, has served as the Bombers’ main US scout since last year.

Later on June 15, the Bombers put pen to paper with 17-year-old defenseman Brady Morrison. Originally from Chilliwack, BC, Morrison split last season between the junior B Port Moody Panthers and the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League. The 6’1”, 185-pound Morrison tallied 18 points in 39 games with Panthers, then added two assists in 17 games with the Capitals.

As of June 15, the team has announced 10 signings over the past two weeks.
