The Flin Flon Bombers will play 58 regular season games this year, including 22 against divisional opponents.

The SJHL released the schedule for the 2018-2019 season on July 11. The schedule shows 10 of the Bombers’ games will be against rival La Ronge, starting with a season-opening home-and-home series.

Each of the teams will start their seasons with a game at La Ronge’s Mel Hegland Arena on Sept. 14, with a follow-up game on Sept. 15 at the Whitney Forum.

After the series with La Ronge, the Bombers will have another home-and-home series against the Nipawin Hawks on Sept. 21 and 22, starting in Flin Flon.

The Bombers will hope to avenge the defeat handed to them by the Hawks in last year’s playoffs – Nipawin defeated the Bombers in five games, finishing with an 1-0 overtime win before the Hawks won their second SJHL title.

Over the course of the season, the Bombers will have two four-game home stands, one each before and after the holiday break. The team will also go on three four-game road trips, each taking them to play against southern Saskatchewan clubs.

The Bombers will also play six games against divisional foes Nipawin and Melfort, six games against both Melville and Yorkton, and four games against all other clubs.

As the league’s most isolated club geographically, the Bombers will likely have a long travel schedule ahead of them this season. Last season, the team travelled more than 17,000 kilometres during road trips during the regular season alone.

Two special events will be held for SJHL players during the season. The first, the SJHL Showcase in Warman, will be held from Sept. 23 to 26, while the second edition of the SJHL-MJHL Showcase will take place in Regina from January 13 to 15.

Flin Flon will also welcome the Humboldt Broncos for a two-game weekend stint on Dec. 7 and 8.

The Humboldt Broncos will return to the ice for the first time on Sept. 12, facing the Nipawin Hawks. The game will serve as the league’s season opener and will be nationally broadcast on TSN and CTV.
