It’s two games, two losses for Flin Flon to start the Bombers’ second-round series with the Battlefords North Stars.

The Stars opened the scoring in the first, with Braydon Buziak putting in his first of the playoffs. The Stars kept the lead for almost a half-hour of game time until Caleb Franklin tied it up.

No offence in the third period led to overtime. Eleven minutes into the extra frame, with Bomber defenceman Calvon Boots sitting in the penalty box, Kaden Boser ended the show with a power play goal for the Stars.

Joel Grzybowski made 42 saves in his second win in as many nights. Gabriel Waked was almost able to keep up, making 33 saves for the Bombers in just over 70 minutes of work.

The loss puts the Bombers firmly behind the eight-ball going into Game 3 and Game 4 at the Whitney Forum this week. The Bombers will try to either tie the series or fend off a sweep on March 19 and March 20 at home, with a potential Game 5 returning to the Battlefords on March 22.
