The Flin Flon Bombers laid down some pain in La Ronge Friday night, skating out of the Mel Hegland Uniplex with an 8-2 win.

On Friday afternoon, the game itself was in doubt after the Bombers' team bus ground to a halt for the second time in as many weeks. La Ronge, in an act of fellowship, sent their own team bus onto the Hanson Lake Road to pick up the Bombers and their equipment. Game time was delayed for about an hour while the Flin Flon squad headed north.

The Bombers paid back La Ronge for their generosity with a 60 minute beating, with the Bombers taking control early and never letting up on the throttle.

Brandson Hein started the fun for Flin Flon with his 28th goal of the campaign five minutes into the game. Nate Hooper and Caleb Moretz also added goals in the period. A late goal by Ice Wolves forward Stephon Perreault made the score 3-1 after one period.

Hein scored to start the second, followed by a return marker by La Ronge's Jordan Mish. From there, it was all Bombers. Dawson McKenzie scored less than a minute after Mish's goal, then Hein completed his hattrick ten seconds later.

Vincent Nardone and Donavan Houle-Villeneuve each added goals in the third.

Jacob Delorme snagged the win after a 28 save showing, while La Ronge used both goalies at their disposal - Daniel Davidson and Jordan Frey - during the game. The pair combined for 53 saves on a night where the Bombers averaged more than one shot per minute.

The win pushes the Bombers to 5-0 against La Ronge this season, halfway to a season sweep of their Hanson Lake Road rivals. La Ronge sits in the league basement with 15 points, while the Bombers remain in the fight for the Sherwood Division lead, seven points back of league leaders Nipawin and six behind second place Melfort.

Two more games separate the Bombers from the holiday break. The Maroon and White will hit the ice for a weekend set in Kindersley on Saturday and Sunday before players leave for the holidays.
