The Flin Flon Bombers picked one heck of a time to snap their recent losing skid, beating the league leading Nipawin Hawks 3-1 in a game with playoff implications.

Flin Flon opened the scoring early, courtesy of defender Tyler Higgins beating top goalie Declan Hobbs minutes into the first. Christian Bosa responded for the Hawks shortly afterward, tying the game 1-1.

After no scoring in the second, the Bombers got on the board again in the third. Jack Michell found the twine seconds into the period, restoring the Bomber lead. Donavan Houle-Villeneuve got an empty netter late in the period.

Gabriel Waked stood tall in the Flin Flon net, making 32 saves in the win. Hobbs made 37 stops.

The win snaps a nasty losing streak for the Bombers, who had lost their last three games and had eight losses in their past 10 games. The losing skid took the Bombers from contending with the Hawks for a division title to firmly into third spot in the Sherwood Division and seventh place in the SJHL.

With three games to go, including a home and home series with La Ronge on March 1 and 2, the Bombers will need to win their remaining three games and hope Humboldt loses their remaining two games to avoid playing in this year's play-in series. If the current standings hold, the Bombers would play tenth-place Melville in a best-of-three series.

The Bombers will host La Ronge on March 1 and finish the regular season at home against division rivals Melfort on March 5.
