Flin Flon grounded the Weyburn Red Wings quickly on Wednesday night, leaving the Whitney Forum with a 6-1 win.

The Bombers scored early and often, with Chrystopher Collin sneaking one past Red Wings goalie Riley Lamb less than four minutes into the game. Caleb Moretz added another goal minutes later. Nate Hooper and Donavan Houle-Villeneuve also scored, giving the Bombers a 4-0 lead after just one period.

Weyburn was sparked after a check from behind by Caleb Moretz early in the second, hitting Red Wing Drew Anderson into the boards awkwardly. Zac Gladu dropped his gloves and fought Moretz, earning both an ejection from the match. According to the official SJHL game report, Moretz was assessed a checking from behind penalty, a fighting major and a game misconduct. While the Bombers did successfully kill off the penalties, Ben Hiltz scored for Weyburn shortly after.

Following Hiltz's goal, the Bombers bounced back in a big way. After two Weyburn players headed on a 2-on-0 rush against Bomber goalie Pierce Diamond, Houle-Villeneuve hustled back and knocked the puck away with a diving poke check. Not long after, Houle-Villeneuve scored his second goal of the game, firing the puck into an open net after Lamb was knocked over by a teammate.

Lamb took an ill-advised slashing penalty late in the period, putting Flin Flon on the powerplay heading into the third period. While the Bombers could not capitalize then, they did shortly afterward, with Caleb Franklin rifling one past Lamb, ending the scoring.

Pierce Diamond got the win for the Bombers, making 36 saves in the victory. Lamb, ignominious in defeat, finished with 41 saves and skated off shouting at Bomber players and fans following the game.

In three games against the Red Wings this season, Flin Flon has earned three wins, scoring 19 goals and giving up eight.

The win helped right the ship for the Bombers, who have lost three of their past four games. The Bombers are now third in the Sherwood Division with 34 points, seven points behind Melfort and five behind Nipawin.

The Bombers will hit the Whitney Forum ice again on Nov. 30, when they play against Estevan on "Jonny Doogs Night".
