Dear Editor,
Rob Clarke needs to get his facts straight.
A recent pamphlet from Clarke’s campaign suggests that the NDP would revive the long-gun registry. That simply isn’t true.
The Liberal long-gun registry wasted well over a billion dollars and treated law-abiding hunters and trappers like criminals. The NDP opposed the long-gun registry then, and the NDP opposes the long gun registry today.
As the only candidate running for the three main parties who actually lives in the North, I know from experience that rifles and shotguns are important tools for hunters and trappers in Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River.
I’d really like to talk about the issues I’m hearing about in our riding – making life more affordable, building a better retirement for seniors and investing in health care.
I hope this letter sets the record straight and I look forward to the day my Conservative opponent will move beyond these falsehoods.
It’s no surprise that Rob Clarke is grasping at straws when so many people in Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River are looking for change. Voters here deserve better.
