Flin Flonners will have the chance to sound off about the town’s future at a pair of meetings at City Hall next month.

The City of Flin Flon will host two public forums for strategic planning on Mar. 1 and Mar. 11. The meetings will be in come-and-go style, running from 2 to 6 pm on Mar. 1 and from 3 to 7 pm on Mar. 11.

Another session geared specifically toward healthcare workers will be held on Feb. 20 at City Hall, starting at 6:30.

Each of the meetings are part of the ongoing creation of a strategic plan for Flin Flon. Surveys for the study will be available at City Hall, at the meetings and online.

“The development of the City of Flin Flon’s strategic plan is in its last phase pertaining to the community engagement sessions,” said Eve O’Leary, regional economic development officer for the City of Flin Flon, Town of Creighton and Village of Denare Beach.

“All City of Flin Flon staff and council have had sessions, equating to more than 16 sessions, throughout the past six months.”

During the development of that plan, different groups throughout Flin Flon have been consulted and questioned about Flin Flon’s future economic strategy. The strategic plan will enter its final pre-release stretch after the meetings. O’Leary expects the release of the plan to take place in late March, with a separate plan for the Town of Creighton anticipated following the Flin Flon release.

“After all the data is collected and aggregated the plan will be drafted and will be presented back to the public for comments, aiming for the end of March,” said O’Leary.
