Calls to Creighton RCMP have dropped for the third straight month.

During the month of August, the detachment received 134 calls throughout Creighton, Denare Beach and Sturgeon Landing, according to monthly reports filed by the detachment.

Creighton RCMP responded to 48 calls inside their community, including mischief offences, assaults, thefts and one charge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Ten mischiefs were reported to authorities within Creighton. One case involved a broken electrical hookup at Douglas Lake, while another involved a vehicle with a broken mirror. The other cases each involved intoxicated people.

Charges were laid in a domestic assault, one of three assault calls reported to RCMP in August. The two other calls involved fights, including a fight between two people at a local business.

During the month, three theft calls came in, including a theft of a 12-foot boat. Another complaint came from a local man about a missing wallet – after the complainant looked further, he discovered it had just been misplaced. Charges were also laid in a call involving a bike stolen from a local business.

In total, Denare Beach had 82 calls. Within the municipality, two assaults were reported, including one domestic assault and two males having a street fight. Charges were laid in both instances.

Two theft calls came in to Creighton RCMP, both having to do with a boat – after an initial report that fuel had gone missing from the boat, a second call was placed stating that the boat had been taken and put back in an unusual location.

A broken car window, a snapped fishing rod, two cases of change being taken from cars and an instance of an intoxicated person at a home were all phoned in as mischief offences. Another mischief call, coming from a resident who had heard a noise, led to an RCMP search. No suspects were found.

Seven assault calls were made from the Amisk Lake area, with witnesses of reported crimes not cooperating with police in several instances. One case included a suspect being arrested for assault with a weapon, while another case involved a reported stabbing. A fight and a domestic assault were also reported.

Throughout August, three break-and-enter calls were made, all to the same residence. One of the reported entries was part of a domestic assault, leading to charges laid. The other two calls were unfounded. Eleven mischief offences, including 10 instances of intoxicated people causing problems at properties, were called in.

At Sturgeon Landing, four calls were made to Creighton RCMP, including two cases of impaired driving. Both cases ended without a vehicle being discovered by police.

Another call involved someone who travelled to Sturgeon Landing for a party, then called police to request a ride to her hometown.

“This did not happen,” reads the report.
