The Flin Flon School Division (FFSD) has started making plans in case of a major closure of Flin Flon mining operations.

Creation of a drawdown plan was announced as part of the division’s budget release last month, including potential activity changes, staff alterations and facility closures. The development of a drawdown plan is still ongoing.

At the FFSD board of trustees meeting on March 12, board vice-chair Amy Sapergia Green said no further information regarding the plan could be released, but confirmed its existence.

“At this point, it’s very early stages. We’ve got three years to come up with a plan and what we’re looking at, it really is everything that was already discussed at that meeting. It is still in the early stages,” she said.
