For the eleventh time during the COVID-19 outbreak, a person in Saskatchewan has died from the disease.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan each saw a new reported case of COVID-19 May 31, with numbers remaining near their lowest point in recent weeks.

Saskatchewan reported its 11th death from COVID-19 May 31. A northern Saskatchewan resident in their 70s is reported by the province to have died from the disease.

A single new case of COVID-19 was reported in Saskatchewan May 31, reported in Regina. No new cases have been reported in northern regions for two consecutive days.

Two more people who had COVID-19 have recovered from the disease, bringing Saskatchewan's active case count down to 53. Four Saskatchewan people remain in hospital due to COVID-19, including one person in intensive care in Saskatoon.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and Indigenous Services Canada declared a new possible outbreak of COVID-19 in North Battleford. A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 was reported by both groups to have visited a Walmart in North Battleford May 21 while they may have been infectious.

Anyone who was at the Walmart between 12 p.m.-2 p.m. is advised to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, including fever, chills, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, runny nose, sore throat or a loss of smell and taste, and to immediately self-isolate if they find any symptoms.

One new case was confirmed in Manitoba May 31, bringing the province up to 10 active cases and 278 in total since the outbreak began. The new case was not found in the north - no new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in northern Manitoba since April 8. Manitoba's change in testing rules to include tests for anyone who requests one continued a surge in new testing - 874 tests were finished May 30.

Phase two of Manitoba's provincial reopening plan is still slated to continue as scheduled June 1.
