A 25-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly robbing the Flin Flon Liquor Mart using a machete earlier this month - and a second suspect is still on the run.

Two suspects entered the liquor store Feb. 11 and committed an armed robbery of the store, with RCMP telling The Reminder that one of the suspects came in toting a large knife or machete. One suspect used the machete to threaten a liquor store employee, while the other served as a lookout. The suspects, who wore disguises to hide their faces, left with no money, but did leave the scene with several bottles of alcohol. Both suspects were wearing what RCMP described as "very identifiable clothing".

Police were called to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. After the suspects left the store, officers from Flin Flon and Creighton RCMP located one of the two suspects, machete still in hand, shortly after and arrested him without incident. RCMP stated 25-year-old David Ross of Flin Flon is facing several charges in relation to the incident, including robbery with an offensive weapon, uttering threats against a person, posession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon. Ross also had an active warrant for his arrest in Saskatchewan for firearms-related offenses. Ross has been remanded into police custody.

Last year, Ross faced charges in connection to a shooting in uptown Flin Flon. Ross and a second suspect were faced several charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, after two men were shot at a home on First Avenue.

The second suspect is still at large and has not been identified by Flin Flon RCMP. The other suspect, a male, was wearing a dark New York Yankees baseball cap, a black face mask, grey boots and a black hoodie with a graphic of an Indigenous man wearing a headdress and the words "HUSTLEGANG" printed across the front.

Anyone with information on the second culprit's identity or his whereabouts is asked to call Flin Flon RCMP at (204) 687-1423 or to notify Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or at manitobacrimestoppers.ca.

None of the accusations have been proven in court.
