It's been two and a half weeks since a new case of COVID-19 has been reported in northern Manitoba.

The last reported case of the disease within the Northern Health Region came April 8, being the third reported case of COVID-19 in the region. Since then, no new cases of the disease have been reported.

Four new cases of the disease were reported by the province April 25, bringing the province to 267 total cases since the outbreak started. Only 62 of those cases are still currently active, with almost 200 people having recovered from the disease. Six people have died due to COVID-19 in Manitoba.

Testing in Manitoba has levelled off - 435 tests were processed at Winnipeg's Cadham Provincial Laboratory as of April 24, down from 786 tests performed April 23 but up from 327 tests April 22.

Northern Manitoba remains under travel restrictions until at least May 1 as per a provincial health order issued last week. Under the order, most non-essential travel into the region from outside the north has been restricted and is punishable by a fine. Northern residents are free to travel south and back up north for essential reasons during the restrictions.

Travel restrictions affecting northern Saskatchewan were enacted April 24 after an outbreak of cases in La Loche.
