Manitoba reported two more cases of COVID-19, while Saskatchewan is going into further detail about where each COVID-19 case is located.

The two new cases included a female in her 30s in the Southern Health-Sante Sud region and a man in his 30s in Winnipeg. Most of the new cases in Manitoba were centred around Southern Health-Sante Sud and Prairie Mountain Health - those two regions, with 12 and 10 cases respectively, led the way in the provnince over the long weekend.

Nine Manitobans are in hospital with COVID-19, with four of those people now in intensive care. Ninety-four people in Mantioba still have COVID-19 - 442 people have been diagnosed with it since the pandemic began.

Investigations are underway in the recent cases to find any possible health risks or public transmission.

Several businesses in Steinbach have shut down temporarily after at least two cases were found in the community. In a media briefing August 4, provincial health minister Cameron Friesen said the cases in the community were all linked to the same household, adding the province would not recommend closing businesses in Steinbach.

Friesen also courted the possibility of having different restrictions in effect for different regions of Manitoba, with decisions on what is restricted and where based on possible transmission risk. Earlier in the pandemic, travel into northern Manitoba from outside the region was restricted for several weeks. The Northern Health Region (NHR) has not detected any cases of COVID-19 in nearly four months.

In Saskatchewan, nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported, bringing a slight increase to the province's overall case load.

The province is starting to roll out a new map of COVID-19, separating the province into smaller sections. While the previous designation split the province into north, far north, central, south, Saskatoon and Regina, the new map will split the province into 15 different groups. The cases reported August 4 were found in Regina, Saskatoon and in the southwest, north central and northwest sections. Regina led the way with four new cases, while Saskatoon reported two - all the other regions reported only one case.

Eight recoveries from COVID-19 were reported, not quite enough to wipe out the new cases found Tuesday. The province now sits at 253 active cases, with 1,368 total having been found since the pandemic.
