Manitoba's streak of days without new COVID-19 cases has hit double digits, while recoveries are outnumbering new cases in Saskatchewan.

It has been 10 days since the province's last reported case of COVID-19. Only four people remain ill with COVID-19 in Manitoba, with none of the four in hospital.

Saskatchewan reported two new cases of COVID-19 Friday, both in central Saskatchewan. Seven people have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours throughout the province. Forty-three active cases remain in Saskatchewan.

Since Monday, active cases in northern Saskatchewan have dropped from 43 - eight in the north, 35 in the far north - to 28 - 21 in the far north, seven in the north.

With a sunny July weekend on the way through much of Saskatchewan, people are encouraged to maintain social distancing, hygiene and complying with provincial health orders on gatherings.

Saskatchewan casinos reopened Thursday as part of the latest phase of the province's COVID-19 recovery plan. Crowds at casinos in Regina and Moose Jaw were immediately packed - Casino Regina reported having a "maximum capacity" crowd within three hours of reopening Thursday morning. Photos from the scene show a line stretching out of the building and down the block on Saskatchewan Drive in Regina.

In the wake of new cases of COVID-19 popping up in Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Health Authority Public Health Incident Command Centre co-lead Dr. David Torr reminded Saskatchewan residents to use caution.

“We are seeing more positive cases of COVID-19 popping up around the province, reminding us that COVID-19 is everywhere and has no boundaries,” said Dr. Torr.

“Across Saskatchewan, we need to be more vigilant when it comes to preventing the spread of the virus.”
