Saskatchewan announced two new cases of COVID-19, but no new cases were announced in the province's north.

The two cases announced May 29 were reported in Saskatoon and in an unannounced community in the province's south.

The province has not had a day with no new announced northern cases since May 26, when the province reported no new cases of the disease. In the past two weeks, new northern cases have been reported in 11 of 14 days.

Two new recoveries from the disease were reported May 29, keeping the province at 61 total active cases. Four people remain in hospital due to COVID-19, with two people, both in Saskatoon, currently in intensive care.

Across the border in Manitoba, another day with no new cases came and went. In a May 29 briefing, chief provincial health officer Dr. Brent Roussin confirmed there had been no new cases of COVID-19 May 29. Only 14 active cases of the disease remain in Manitoba.

Both provinces are poised to move ahead with provincial reopening plans. Manitoba plans to move into phase two of a gradual reopening June 1, while Saskatchewan is targeting the third phase of its own provincial reopening plan to start June 8.
