Hapnot Collegiate Grade 9 students were not in the classroom Nov. 6. Instead, they were sent to work, getting a taste of a future career through the annual Take Our Kids to Work Day.

The program was started in 1994 by The Learning Partnership to give high school students the chance to experience work life for a day.

The program started in Ontario and quickly spread across Canada. The Learning Partnership estimates over 200,000 students participate every year.

“The event provides students with the opportunity to explore career options and navigate their interests in a fun and engaging way,” The Learning Partnership’s website reads.

“This allows students to explore the world of work, better preparing them to make informed educational decisions about their future.”

Businesses around Flin Flon hosted students, including the Orange Toad, schools and other workplaces.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of Take Our Kids to Work Day.
