COVID-19 continues to spread in Saskatchewan.

Seven more positive cases across Saskatchewan were announced by provincial health authorities April 7. The provincial total now sits at 260 cases in total, with 169 still being considered "active".

One of the new cases reported is located within the "far north" region of the province, which includes Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay and Deschambault Lake and other communities. The new case brings the total number of reported cases in the far north to four, with two cases remaining active. Two of the people who have been diagnosed with the disease in the far north have recovered.

No information has been released about where the fourth case was reported or the affected person.

Three people in Saskatchewan have died from the disease.

Not all the COVID-19 news out of Saskatchewan is negative. Seven more people have been confirmed to have recovered from the disease, making it 88 total recoveries across the province.

Saskatchewan's Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory in Regina has tested 14,722 COVID-19 tests since the start of the outbreak.

With the Easter holiday coming near, the province has suggested holding virtual holiday gatherings instead of in-person celebrations or family dinners. Suggestions include restricting gatherings to only people living within the same home, purchasing any needed Easter supplies ahead of time and frequently washing hands and socially distancing.
