The riding of Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River could keep residents and election junkies up late.

Liberal Tammy Cook-Searson is in the lead, which has been ping ponging back and forth between her and the Conservative’s Gary Vidal. As of 9:40 p.m. Manitoba time, Cook-Searson was ahead with 601 votes, while Vidal sat second with 529 ballots. Only 16 of the 173 polls in the ridings had reported.

In 2015, the riding was one of the tightest in Canada, when the NDP’s Georgina Jolibois just barely eked out a win. Today, Jolibois is running in third but not out of contention altogether with 437 votes.

Multiple media sources, including The Reminder and the Candian Press, are projecting that the Liberal Party will form government, although the final seat totals and whether that government will be a minority or a majority are still unknown.
