Federal election: Flin Flonner Linnick comes up short in Winnipeg Green bid

A candidate originally from the Flin Flon area has come up short in an attempt to become Manitoba’s first-ever Green MP.

A candidate originally from the Flin Flon area has come up short in an attempt to become Manitoba’s first-ever Green MP.

Ben Linnick, who ran in the Winnipeg-based riding of Saint Boniface-Saint Vital, ended up fourth of six candidates in the riding, finishing with over 2,500 votes. Dan Vandal, the Liberal incumbent, ended up winning with more than 19,000 votes.

Born and raised in Flin Flon, Linnick moved to Winnipeg in 2007 to attend the University of Manitoba. Since then, Linnick graduated on the university’s dean’s list and works as an emergency communications operator and dispatcher with the City of Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service. Linnick, who is Métis, lives in the provincial capital with his wife and child.
