Saskatchewan's number of COVID-19 cases is growing, but the growth has slowed down.

Four more cases of the disease were reported April 6, making it 253 total positive cases throughout the province. Almost a third of all people diagnosed with the disease are now considered recovered - 81 in total. Four Saskatchewan residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 are currently hospitalized.

In the region of the Saskatchewan covering Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Deschambault Lake, Sandy Bay and other nearby communities - the "far north" - only three reported cases have been confirmed. No new cases have been reported in northern Saskatchewan since March 27.

Three people have died from the disease in Saskatchewan.

Almost exactly half of all Saskatchewan cases have been reported in Saskatoon - 127 out of the 253. Fifty-one cases have been reported in Regina, while another 47 cases have been reported in what the provincial government has described as the "north", with several attached to a snowmobile rally and dinner in Christopher Lake.

In response to COVID-19 spreading, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has asked residents to sign up for the SaskAlert app as a way to get fast, accurate infomation about the disease.

“With the risk of COVID-19 within the province, we are encouraging everyone to download the SaskAlert app. The app will provide urgent, critical information about how individuals and families can protect themselves," said SPSA president Marlo Pritchard in an April 6 press release.

The app can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices.
