Denare Beach residents will have a chance to publicly share concerns about crime on Thursday.

A public meeting has been called by the Village of Denare Beach and will be held at the Denareplex at 7 pm on Thursday, July 26. The village announced the meeting on July 19.

Members of Creighton RCMP and Denare Beach Village Council are slated to attend.

In recent months, the number of incidents reported to Creighton RCMP occurring in Denare Beach has increased. In June, RCMP responded to a total of 911 calls in the Denare Beach area, home to 820 people – 35 more calls than were reported in Creighton, where around 1,500 people currently reside.

Property crimes, including break-ins and vandalism, have also been reported more often in the community than in Creighton.

Multiple violent crimes have been reported in the community within the past 18 months, including an assault on an elder in March and a string of break-ins and assaults last June. Arrests were made in both cases.
