A small group of Creighton Community School (CCS) students have received an exceptional honour.

Eight students received Northern Saskatchewan Student Achievement Awards for their accomplishments at CCS. Each honour was bestowed on students for their achievements over the 2017-18 school year. Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, W. Thomas Malloy, was present at CCS on Sept. 24 to present the awards to students.

Victoria Pedwell earned the highest honour, the Lieutenant Governor’s Award of Excellence. The honour is given to one student from across the province at each grade level from grades 7 to 12.

Outgoing CCS students Aline Nasselquist and Pedwell received the Grade 12 honours, while Hunter Brasch was the recipient for the Grade 11 award. Lauren Fox and Bree Patterson were chosen out of last year’s Grade 10 group. Abbey Cowper and Victoria Watkins were honoured as outstanding Grade 9 students, while Myles Patterson was the sole selection from Grade 8.

Malloy and a group of provincial officials made the appearance as part of a series of planned visits throughout northern Saskatchewan, appearing to hand out the awards to children at several remote northern schools.
