Just weeks after its abrupt closure, The Prospector Inn has hit the open market.

The Creighton motel, restaurant and lounge carries an asking price of $1.2 million.

“The business is fully equipped to be operational,” reads the listing on the Nordmark Realty website.

The Prospector has been the subject of a whirlwind of rumours since suddenly closing its doors on the morning of Jan. 16.

The Reminder reported last month that a group of local investors held preliminary talks on possibly purchasing the business. It’s not clear if those talks went anywhere.

The Prospector includes 35 guest rooms, a 59-seat restaurant, a 35-seat lounge and a 135-seat banquet room, according to the Nordmark listing.

There is also an office and living quarters, though the latter is currently used as office and storage space.

The owners of the Prospector announced the closure on Facebook. Neither the Facebook post nor signs posted on the business’s doors offered a reason for the closure.

The Prospector Inn opened in 1988 as RJ’s Motel and Restaurant. In 2008, under new ownership, the name was changed to The Prospector Inn, with the dining area christened the Copper Kettle Restaurant.
