The opening of the passenger transport service between Creighton and Prince Albert will go ahead as scheduled.

Creighton Connection, the new passenger van service spurred on by the Town of Creighton, will begin as previously scheduled next week. The service’s maiden voyage is set to leave the Creighton Tourism Bureau on Creighton Avenue Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.

At the Jan. 22 Creighton town council meeting, some things needed to be completed to have the service fully operational. Creighton Mayor Bruce Fidler said the vehicle – a 15-passenger van – and an accompanying trailer had already come to Flin Flon.

“We have to finalize the drivers, the trailer wiring has to be done and completed on the van and signage needs to be put on the van. It’s winding down and there isn’t much left to do,” he said.

Later, Fidler said any issues separating the service from operation had been resolved and the wheels on the van would be going round and round come Feb. 3.

Once in operation, the service will provide transport between Creighton and Prince Albert on Mondays and Thursdays, providing a connection to an additional route between Prince Albert and Saskatoon. The van will leave the Tourism Bureau and arrive at the Co-op Gas Bar in Prince Albert around 2 p.m., with a connection to an Aurora Charters bus leaving for Saskatoon an hour later.

The Creighton Connection van will leave Prince Albert at 3 p.m. and arrive back in Creighton at 8 p.m. at the local Petro-Canada station.

A journey between Creighton and Prince Albert on the service will have a base cost of $80, with additional charges for extra luggage and GST. Trips between Creighton and Saskatoon using the Aurora Charters bus will cost $115 with additional fees.

Tickets can be purchased at the Creighton Town Office or online through the Creighton Connection Facebook page or the Town of Creighton website at www.townofcreighton.ca. Riders must purchase tickets at least 24 hours in advance.
