Residents at Jan Lake will still be able to dump their trash at the Creighton landfill.

Members of Creighton town council approved an annual agreement with Jan Lake residents to use the landfill during their Dec. 13 meeting.

There will be a slight increase in the fees levied on Jan Lake residents to use the landfill, going from $87.55 per tonne last year to $87.81 per tonne.

“It’s not a significant increase,” said Paula Muench, chief administrative officer for the Town of Creighton. Muench added the increase matched the rate of inflation increase over the past year.

Bus shelter

Council members will give a further look to a resident’s application for a bus shelter on the south end of Creighton.

A letter, written by Creighton resident Dean Martin, was received by council as correspondence during the Nov. 28 meeting. Since receiving the letter, the issue has been discussed by a town committee.

“That will be on the agenda for our next committee meeting,” said Creighton Mayor Bruce Fidler.

A shelter was placed at the location recommended in the letter in previous years.

“We’re looking into it. We’re looking at different options and we’re still discussing it,” said Muench.
