Eleven more people in Saskatchewan now have COVID-19. None of those people are in the region that includes Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay or other nearby communities.

The new rise in reported cases brings Saskatchewan's total number of cases to 271. Fifteen more people are confirmed to have recovered from the disease, marking more than 100 people who had tested positive now being clear - 103, to be exact.

Four cases have been reported in the far north, which contains most Saskatchewan communities in Flin Flon. About half of all cases province-wide are in Saskatoon - 135 as of April 8 - while 51 cases have been reported in the region labelled the "north" by provincial authorities, which includes Prince Albert, the Battlefords, Nipawin, Melfort, Meadow Lake and other communities.

Eight people in Saskatchewan are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, with two in intensive care.

Cases from community contact are beginning to catch up to travel-related COVID-19 cases. Currently, 119 of the 271 reported cases have to do with travel directly, while 90 have involved community contact, including public gatherings. Investigations are ongoing into 46 positive cases.

The number of tests processed at Regina's Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory continues to grow, with 15,621 tests having been processed as of April 8.
