A strategic planning meeting is in the works between officials from Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach.
The meeting, slated for March 14, will be hosted at Flin Flon City Hall. On the agenda will be the structure of the strategic plans for area communities and the results from consultations with community members and groups.
Two community consultation sessions, one on March 1 and another on March 11, took place in Flin Flon, allowing members of the public a chance to provide input and see what may and may not be feasible under the plan.
Another session for councillors and other officials is scheduled for March 19, featuring a pair of out-of-town speakers.
At the Feb. 27 Creighton town council meeting, regional economic development officer Eve O’Leary recommended that council members attend the session.
“If I was to recommend that you attend any workshop, this would be the one,” she said.
“It would be critical for all councillors and senior management to attend because it will be pertinent for how we move forward for economic development.”
Mayor Bruce Fidler, who monitored the meeting via phone while on town business in Gatineau, Que., also encouraged participation in the meeting, saying, “We want to encourage anybody who can make it to the workshop on the 19th, try the best you can to be there. The more we have there, the better… It’s very interesting and very much worthwhile. Try your best to get there. The more we have there, the better.”
